The Teacher I Wish I'd Had
I'm Sameer Saleem. I play guitar for a living in Austin, over 100 shows a year at venues, hotels, restaurants, and private events, and I teach because I spent years practising things that didn't move the needle.
Nobody told me which of those hours mattered. The curriculum I teach now is built to cut that wasted time out, and it's grounded in what actually happens on a stage instead of what looks tidy in a method book.
How the Teaching Works
Most people who quit guitar didn't lack discipline. They lacked a sequence. They practised hard on the wrong things in the wrong order and hit a wall that looked like a talent problem but was really a curriculum problem.
So lessons here run on a sequence: ear training, applied theory, rhythm, repertoire, and performance, layered in an order that builds. It isn't a fixed method book everyone marches through at the same speed. The sequence bends around what you want to play, which is the only thing that keeps anyone practising in month six.
Theory is the piece people notice first. It gets taught and used in the same lesson, on the song already in front of you. That's the difference between memorising the CAGED shapes and being able to find a chord anywhere on the neck because you understand what's under it.
The second piece is people. Learning guitar as an adult is a lonely hobby by default, and that isolation is what kills momentum. Every subscription includes The Sessions, Songwriting Circles, and Jam Sessions at no extra cost. Students consistently say the community is what changed things, not because it's fun, though it is, but because playing with other people exposes every gap a bedroom never will.
The studio
In-person lessons happen at 6814 E Riverside Dr, Suite 26, Austin, TX 78741, East Riverside in southeast Austin, near the ACC Riverside campus, with easy access from Highway 71 and 183 and about fifteen minutes from downtown. Remote students meet over video from anywhere.

Fifteen Years On Stages
Teaching and performing feed each other. When a student asks how a part is really played live, or what to do when the room goes quiet mid-song. The answer comes from having done it the previous weekend rather than from a book.
Recent and regular rooms include Cedar Door, Geraldine's, Hotel Indigo Austin, The Rainey House, Eastend Ballroom, Revelry Kitchen and Bar, and Victory Lap, plus private events across Austin and the surrounding towns.
