Am I too old to learn guitar? expand_more
No. Many students start in their 40s, 50s, and 60s, and roughly a third of all students begin from zero. Adult learners bring focus and musical appreciation that actually speed things up, we move at your pace.
Do I need any gear to start? expand_more
Just a beginner guitar, acoustic or electric is fine. There's gear in the studio for in-person lessons, and you'll get honest recommendations at your consult so you don't overspend.
How long until I can play a full song? expand_more
Usually within the first month. Lessons build technique through songs you recognize, so you're playing real music you like from the very start rather than running endless exercises.
Do I have to perform? expand_more
Not at all. The Sessions and open mics are there if you want them, but if your goal is just to play for yourself at home, lessons focus entirely on that.
What's included in a subscription? expand_more
Every subscription includes your private lessons plus free access to The Sessions, Songwriting Circles, and Jam Sessions, a detailed written recap after each lesson, and for remote students, a video recap of every session.
What do you teach? expand_more
Acoustic guitar, electric guitar, vocals, and music theory. No bass, piano, or drums, any request outside those four gets an honest referral, not a booking.
Are lessons in person or online? expand_more
Both. In-person lessons are taught at the East Riverside studio in southeast Austin; remote lessons over video are available to students anywhere, with a video recap of every session.
Is there a contract? expand_more
No long contract. Lessons are a month-to-month weekly subscription, so you can adjust or cancel without a trap. Start with a free 15-minute consult for an honest answer on fit.
Do you teach bass, piano, or drums? expand_more
No. Acoustic guitar, electric guitar, vocals, and music theory only. Requests outside those four get an honest referral rather than a booking, because teaching an instrument you only half play does nobody any favours.
Where is the studio? expand_more
In-person lessons are at 6814 E Riverside Dr, Suite 26, Austin, TX 78741, East Riverside in southeast Austin, near the ACC Riverside campus and about fifteen minutes from downtown.
What are the teaching hours? expand_more
Tuesday through Thursday, 10am to 8pm; Friday 10am to 2pm; Saturday 10am to 5pm. Free consults are also available evenings and weekends.
Can I switch between in-person and online lessons? expand_more
Yes. Plenty of students do both, in person most weeks, online when travel or weather gets in the way. The curriculum is the same either way, and remote sessions add a video recap.
